Accommodation subsidies for patients, carers and families.

Patient Assisted Travel Schemes

Many patients and carers living in rural or regional areas are eligible for Patient Assisted Travel Scheme (PATS).

PATS is operated by each Australian State and Territory Government. These schemes support patients, their carers and families by subsidising the costs of accommodation near hospitals. They also help to cover the costs of travelling to and from the hospital.

Eligibility criteria for financial assistance varies and links to each scheme are shown below.

Methods vary across regions, however there are generally two ways to book and pay for accommodation.

1. Book your accommodation with MediStays and we will provide you with a tax invoice to claim your accommodation subsidy.

2. Can MediStays bulk-bill your accommodation? Check below for your State or Territory or link us directly with your local PATS Office.

Please note, all subsidies are approved by your local State or Territory PATS office. MediStays is unable to approve subsidy applications.
