Introducing Melbourne’s First Dedicated Accommodation by MediStays for Hospital Discharge Support

With the official opening just weeks away, Sarah Everitt, MediStays Managing Director, expresses her excitement about the collaboration with the Equisent Group, highlighting the unveiling of their inaugural collection of properties designed specifically to support Victorians transitioning from hospital care. This collaboration marks a significant step forward in addressing the critical need for transitional housing for patients post-hospitalisation.

In collaboration with the Equisent Group, MediStays are proud to unveil our inaugural collection of meticulously curated properties aimed at aiding Victorians transitioning from hospital care.”

A solution for hospital bed block

The term “bed block” refers to the situation where patients who are medically cleared for discharge are unable to leave the hospital due to a lack of suitable accommodation. This bottleneck in the healthcare system can lead to increased strain on hospital resources and prolonged stays for patients, which may not be conducive to their recovery. Recognising this complex challenge, MediStays steps in to bridge this gap by providing dedicated transitional housing. These properties are meticulously curated to ensure that participants of the NDIS have a safe and comfortable environment to continue their recovery outside of the hospital setting.

MediStays understands that each patient has unique accessibility and care needs. Therefore, their accommodation is tailored to address these individual requirements, ensuring a smoother and timelier discharge process. By offering specialised support services and amenities, such as ceiling hoists, wide doorways and 24 hour care, MediStays aims to enhance the overall participant experience and improve outcomes.

The importance of NDIS-funded Medium Term Accommodation

The significance of NDIS-funded Medium Term Accommodation cannot be overstated. This funding provides vital support to individuals who require transitional housing between hospital discharge and returning home or a new SDA property. By offering a continuum of care that extends beyond the hospital walls, NDIS-funded accommodation like those provided by MediStays play a crucial role in promoting independence and facilitating a successful transition back to community living.

The partnership between MediStays and the Equisent Group is a testament to their shared commitment to addressing the evolving needs of healthcare and accommodation in Australia. By leveraging their respective expertise and resources, they aim to make a positive impact on the lives of Australians seeking reliable transitional accommodation. This collaborative effort underscores the importance of innovation and collaboration in driving positive change within the healthcare industry.

In conclusion, the opening of MediStays and its collaboration with the Equisent Group represent a significant milestone in addressing the challenges associated with hospital discharge and transitional housing. Through their tailored approach and dedication to patient-centered care, they are poised to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities.
